Ngligli Caves
1. Descending into the caves was as simple as going down stairs. But felt really weird to be taking the stairs into the earth..
2. This is basically what the ceiling looked like the whole time. I was really glad I had such a nice camera, because I tried using flash once, and it looked horrible. The stalactites were just amazing. Props to whoever did the lighting for this place.
3. Overview of one entire room. You can see the stairs in the top right. I’m at the bottom of the first cavern, but we went much much deeper than that. At one point I think, we were 37 meters underground.
4. I had a hard time choosing between this and a similar one, but I just love them both. Looking straight up at the stalactites. Desktop Wallpaper?
5. One of the walls. I love the column effect that you get in caves. Kinda reminds me of The LIttle Mermaid, where the castle looks like this.
6. This is an area called Cupid’s Corner, which apparently, is where couples used to go have have sex back when the cave was managed by a hotel specializing in honeymoons. So the current owners have put a lightshow in there that lights up really cool.
7. Really thin sheets that bacteria have gotten into and changed the color. That’s why they’re striped.
8. This area is called Pixie something. Anyway, everything here is really really small. I wish i could’ve given some sort of scale, but most of the thinner stalactites are thinner than a pencil.
9. This is up at Yallingup beach. Big surf competitions happen here every year, and the place is just beautiful. I caught this wave breaking on the rocks below me at just the right time.
Overall the trip was amazing. Good times, Good friends, Good food, Good spelunking. I love caves.
